Measuring Guidance

Here you will find all the information required to successfully complete our measurement forms.

KEY POINTS:

​- If  you are completing the forms by hand, please use blank ink â€‹as the forms are then photocopied.
- Measurements MUST be in INCHES not centimetres.

- Please complete all boxes on the form

- Please list all costumes required on the form for the specified character as per our costume plot and the number of costumes required.

Ladies

  • Height:

    • Measure from the top of the head to the floor, with the person standing straight and barefoot.

  • Bust:

    • Measure around the fullest part of the bust, keeping the tape level and under the arms.

  • Waist:

    • Measure around the natural waistline — the narrowest part of the torso, usually just above the belly button.

  • Hips:

    • Measure around the fullest part of the hips and bottom, with feet together.

  • Outside Sleeve:

    • Measure from the shoulder seam to the wrist, with the arm relaxed at the side.

  • Nape to Waist:

    • Measure from the prominent bone at the base of the neck (nape) down to the natural waistline.

  • Waist to Ankle:

    • Measure from the natural waistline straight down to the ankle bone.

  • Waist to Calf:

    • Measure from the natural waistline straight down to the widest part of the calf.

Men’s

  • Height:

    • Measure from the top of the head to the floor, standing straight and barefoot.

  • Chest:

    • Measure around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades.

  • Waist:

    • Measure around the natural waistline, just above the hips where trousers normally sit.

  • Inside Sleeve:

    • Measure from the armpit down to the wrist, with the arm slightly bent.

  • Inside Leg:

    • Measure from the top of the inner thigh (crotch) down to the ankle bone.

  • Hat Size:

    • Measure around the head, just above the eyebrows and ears — where a hat would sit comfortably.

  • Collar Size:

    • Measure around the base of the neck where a shirt collar would sit, allowing one finger under the tape for comfort.
